Clinical Study of Ceforanide(Radace^(¢ç)) in the Field of Orthopaedic Surgery



Abstract
A new, injectable semisynthetic cephalosporin, Ceforanide(Radacef¢ç) has extended spectrum of antibacterial activity and is stable to beta-lactamase.
We tried to evaluate the efficacy of Ceforanide(Radacef¢ç) in 15 cases of preoperative
antibiotic prophylaxis and 15 cases of musculoskeletal infections. The results were as follows
1. Fifteen(100%) of 15 patients with preoperative antibiotic prophylaxis, and fourteen(93. 3%) of 15 patients in musculoskeletal infections rated Good results.
2. Observed side effects were transient skin eruption and gastrointestinal discomfort. There was no specific laboratory abnormality during or until 7th. day after administration of antibiotics.
On the basis of these results, Ceforanide(Radacef¢ç) is effective antibiotics in preoperative antibiotic prophylaxis and treatment of musculoskeletal infections.
